Ciarán's Story

Ciarán is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Williams Caribbean Capital.   

 

In February 2017, after more than 10 years with telecommunications company, Digicel Group across multiple financial and operational roles, Ciarán set up the new investment business, New Caribbean Capital Partners and subsequently formed a joint venture with Williams Industries Inc. to form Williams Caribbean Capital (“WCC”).  

 

WCC is an impact investor and developer of renewable energy assets as well as creating a diversified asset portfolio across the Caribbean and in Ireland through various acquisitions covering sectors in tourism, sustainable packaging solutions, insurance and technology.  

 

Between 2018 and 2021, Ciaran was part of the IFPIL team that purchased and managed the previously owned businesses of Irish Flexible Packaging and Fispak, and then managed the smooth transfer of ownership to their new owners, ProAmpac. He is currently the Finance Committee Chairman of IFPIL.

 

During his time with the Digicel Group between 2006 and 2017, Ciarán was CEO and CFO of Digicel Barbados, CEO of Digicel Grenada and Regional CFO of the Eastern Caribbean. He also led M&A activities as CEO of Growth Opportunities in the Eastern Caribbean where he held over 20 directorships across a diverse portfolio of newly-acquired businesses as well as conducting various special assignments across the Group.

 

Prior to joining Digicel in 2006, Ciarán spent eight years in international accounting and auditing, financial consulting and corporate governance across the private and public sectors in the EMEA and Caribbean regions, and with BDO and EY in Ireland, before moving to the Caribbean working for Deloitte in Barbados in 2003. 

 

Ciarán has much success in structuring M&A deals and the financing of large-scale infrastructure and green energy projects with various equity and debt models, as well as a proven track record in returning solid shareholder value and returns in the medium term.

 

He was re-elected as director for a second term and is the Finance Committee Chairman at the Barbados Golf Club. He is also member of the FutureTec Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Barbados as well as investor and board director of General Accident Insurance Company in Barbados 

 

Ciarán is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Barbados.

 

He holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Accounting and Finance from Dublin City University and a Diploma in Corporate Finance with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.  

 

Ciarán is a former scholarship winner to the Boston College, Carroll School of Management, and attended Wharton Business School in the University of Pennsylvania as part of a Future Leaders programme.
